In March, the PUC adopted a new rule on settlement of energy storage resources that provides favorable treatment for energy storage including wholesale transaction benefits when charging and discharging and exemption from all retail load fees. TESA is actively working with ERCOT to develop the protocol revisions and system changes needed to implement this rule, and determine whether thermal storage associated with thermal generators might also qualify for protection. Once an appropriate draft is filed, the protocol revision request will begin to work its way through the stakeholder committee process.
